Carrer de Pau Vila i Dinarés is a road near Parc Migdia, where you can usually find a space, unless it's lunchtime (1-3pm). It is a 10 minute walk back to the apartment.
Carrer Bisbe Lorenzana 44 bis (Parking)
From the apartment it is a one way system. Leave the public parking under the apartment and turn left, then two more lefts to complete the square. After the zebra crossing, go straight on towards the train station - the entrance to the garage is on the right before the traffic lights. There is a yellow and black stripe on the wall.
The garage door only opens with the car in front - the remote control will not work without the car. Don't forget to take the remote control with you when you park - don't leave the remote control in the car!
Go up the ramp 2nd level.
(only number 43, tragically, the other free spaces are private, please don't choose a more comfy one!)
At the top of the ramp drive straight on and do a U turn to the left to find number 43. Please respect the neighbours and park neatly within the lines, especially with wide cars. Much appreciated!
Be careful! Low ceiling for boot!
Please leave the remote control/key in the apartment (or in an envelope in the postbox). Thank you!
Doesn't look much, but you'll be pleased...!
In the apartment there is plenty of information to set you off in the right direction and this is backed up by insider guides online - have a look at Pinterest or at the 'Days Out from Girona' blog on this site, to orientate yourself on the information available and coming up.
While you are waiting for the others to get ready, relax on the terrace or the sofa with a good book or film. In our Girona apartment, you won't be short of entertainment. There are also board games for the little ones and not so little ones alike. I'm not expecting you to have much time for any of this, though it will give your feet a well-earned rest from all the sightseeing.
Good connection. Reliable. Free. (just don't accidentally press the invisible button on the side...)
We have a magnificent public car park right outside, so you can leave the car there for next to nothing and bring up all your luggage in a stress-free way. The old town is more problematic in this respect. When you feel recovered from your journey, you can move the car to our own parking space in the same block or drive to Migdia Parc, where there are often spaces available. This is a free unenclosed open air parking area, worth a try. It is a good 10 minute walk back to the apartment straight along C/ Barcelona (this is not the way you drive to it).
We have 2 parking spaces available, not included in the cost of the apartment rental, as many people do not need it. Do let us know if you would like to reserve a parking space with your booking. Neither space is suitable for 4x4's or vans i'm sorry to say. (Type of car parked at our discretion - we reserve the right to change our mind if we think it's causing problems.)
The useful public car park next to the apartment costs 26€ per night (Aug 2017). Our own space is 10€ per night for short-term stayers and a week in the public car park costs about 75€, discounted from the nightly rate. We will arrange this for you beforehand with a few days notice if you would like us to.
Our apartment has air-conditioning in the double bedroom. When the appropriate doors are closed, this also cools effectively one of the twin rooms also. The other bedrooms either have electric fans or direct access to the great outdoors. Girona is humid in Summer because of the river and it gets hot, but only really hot in July and August, so it has never been viable for us to put in more air-con and we care about the environment a bit too...
To keep the apartment lovely and fresh, open the door at the back to the terrace and the door at the front to the balcony and let the breeze waft through. This tunnel effect is pretty efficient so use the door jams along the route, to keep our friendly neighbours happy.
The fact can't be avoided, that in many cities, if an apartment were situated 2 minutes walk from the train and bus station, this might indicate a less than salubrious area. Not so in Girona. We are surrounded by shops, cafes, restaurants and strangely but reassuringly, medical clinics. Here are some additional gadgets to give you peace of mind.
UPDATE: smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detector has arrived!! Only 4 months waiting, but thanks Airbnb, i wasn't a believer....! Will be fitted SOON (Feb 2017)
